About The Clarington Youth Centres
The John Howard Society of Durham Region, the Municipality of Clarington, and the local business community have teamed up together to develop our Clarington Youth Centres. We are a drop-in recreational program for youth between the ages of 12-18.
Our mission as an agency is to “reduce the impact of crime and its causes by providing a spectrum of effective prevention and intervention programs.”
All of our youth centres provide a wide variety of resources for youth ranging from structured sports to video games and musical instruments. Our Centres also provide youth access to our free WIFI and so much more. Youth between 12-18 are welcome to enjoy the use of our pool table, air hockey table, basketball court, hockey nets, computers, video games, and more.
Our Clarington Youth Centres are adult-supervised by staff that are subject to criminal reference checks and are CPR/First Aid certified. Adult supervision promotes a pro-social environment that ensures the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the Centres.
HOW MUCH DOES ALL THIS COST?
Our Clarington Youth Centres offer all of its programming FREE OF CHARGE!
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Are you a high school student? Do you need to complete your community service hours to graduate? The Firehouse Youth Centre and the Loft are registered charitable programs and by volunteering at our Centres you can work towards completing your school hours.
